A Professional Tip Brought to You By: Ashley Morrow, CPC
Can you believe it? It is already that time of year again! We say this every year, don’t we? Time just goes by way too fast. We are all now in the zone of prepping for the holidays, closing out projects before the end of year, and soaking up special time with loved ones.
As we prepare for 2023, don’t push your hiring needs or job findings till next year. Some may tell you that this isn’t the best time to hire or look for a new job, but don’t let that discourage you. As everyone is preparing for a New Year, we all want to start off the first of the year ready to hit the ground running. Many employers want to interview and extend offers before closing out the year so they can start the year strong.
If you have upcoming holiday travel and worried a new employer wouldn’t accept your time off, don’t let that hold you back from starting your search. Most companies are very understanding, and you could be missing out on an amazing career opportunity!
You might find yourself not competing as much with other talent, because they are taking this time to wait till January to start looking. Take advantage of those not looking and get yourself noticed by top employers. Companies that are hiring before end of year, often have business-critical needs to fill and are motivated to interview and hire.
The market is strong with new jobs becoming available daily. Companies are making time to meet with “A Players” because they know you might not be on the market very long. Through the hustle and bustle of the holidays, everyone has goals and objectives to meet. For many companies, it is getting the right talent in place. We are not slowing down and it is just going to get busier through the end of year.
This is a festive time of year. Put yourself out there, attend holiday events and you might just be meeting with your new employer or employee! You have nothing to lose seeking a new career as we come to close out 2022. Don’t let the holiday season discourage you. Let it motivate you to get a head and let 2023 be your best year yet!
