Kathleen Sundin is a Recruiter in the Corporate Services Division. Kathleen was born and raised in Oregon and came to Texas in 2014 to compete at the University of the Incarnate Word in synchronized swimming. She majored in Communication Studies, completing a Bachelor’s of Arts in 2018 and a Master’s of Arts in 2020. She was a member of the inaugural class of the Lambda Pi Eta Honors Society and was a Dean’s List student every semester. During her two-year Master’s program, Kathleen was a Media Relations Graduate Assistant for the Athletic Department. In this role, she was the Sports Information contact for men’s/women’s swimming and diving, synchronized swimming, and women’s soccer, where she covered games/conference championships/national competitions with press releases, statistics, social media management, graphic development, and other duties as assigned.

Kathleen loves serving others and encouraging empathy. Providing media coverage for DI student-athletes was a driving motivator to showcase the work others put in “on and off the court” through engaging communication. During the 2019 US Synchronized Swimming Collegiate National Championship, Kathleen assisted as a Meet Manager and Liaison between UIW Athletics and USA Synchro (now US Artistic Swimming). In addition, she represented UIW women’s soccer in the program’s first-ever postseason play appearance, working in Media Relations and assisting in photography and Sports Information duties with the Tournament staff.

She was awarded the Mary Jo Ruggieri scholarship at the 2016 Synchronized Swimming Collegiate National Championship after being nominated by the UIW coaching staff.

In her free time, Kathleen enjoys hiking, playing disc golf with her boyfriend, Will, and being by the water in any way. She has one four-legged child, a kitten named Humphrey Douglas.
